What is UNILAG DLI All About?

Distance Learning Institute (DLI) is the part time (weekend) programme of University of Lagos (UNILAG).

UNILAG DLI Calendar

UNILAG DLI Calendar contains important dates, deadlines, holidays, and exams per academic year.

Currently, the 2020 UNILAG DLI Aacademic Calendar has not been released yet. When it is released, it shall be made available here, and we shall notify all subscribers via email.

UNILAG DLI Lectures

UNILAG DLI offers a flexible, high quality distance learning, and you will study in a flexible way that works for you whether you are at home, at work or on the move. This gives opportunity to students who may not be physically present in a normal setting such as a classroom.

However, during the 3 weeks residential programme, classroom lectures holds everyday.

UNILAG DLI Modules

module is a self-contained course that usually lasts for one semester. It covers just one course and is assessed independently of other modules.

When you are successfully admitted, you will have access to your course modules.

UNILAG DLI LMS

UNILAG DLI LMS (Learning Management System) is a software application for the administration, documentation, tracking, reporting, and delivery of modules, assignments, and other relevant study materials. The learning management system concept emerged directly from e-Learning

Every DLI student has a username and password to access the LMS to download course modules and do assignments.

UNILAG DLI Duration

The duration of Distance Learning Institute (DLI) in University of Lagos (UNILAG) is five (5) years for all the courses. Notwithstanding this, the duration of those admitted through Direct Entry is three (3) or four (4) years depending on the level they started.

Direct Entry students that started from 200 level will spend four years while those that started from 300 level will spend three years.

Note that the level to start from depends on your qualification.

UNILAG DLI Certificate

UNILAG DLI Certificate is a well recognized certificate because the programme is approved by National Universities Commission (NUC). In other words, the certificate carries the same prestige and reputation associated with that of the regular undergraduate programme.

Does UNILAG DLI Student Go for NYSC?

No. DLI graduates do not join NYSC mobilization to serve but collect NYSC Exclusion Letters.

After the University Senate has taken a Student final result, how long does it take to get NYSC Exemption Certificate?

Five (5) months or thereabout, depending on the NYSC Time-table. Further details and guidelines on NYSC Exclusion Letters and Registration are on the NYSC site: https://portal.nysc.org.ng

UNILAG DLI Admission

UNILAG DLI Admission has always been the best choice for working-class people in Lagos that wants to further their education.

Here are some few things to know about UNILAG DLI Admission:

  • Applicants for Distance Learning Institute programme shall not be less than 16 years of age.
  • Offer of admission into programmes listed below is subject to the available number of qualified applicants. 
  • Candidates awaiting results are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply.

UNILAG DLI Admission Requirements

Holders of WASCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (‘O’ Level) or its equivalent with credit in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics plus any other three (3) relevant subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.

UNILAG DLI Direct Entry

UNILAG DLI Direct Entry is mainly for candidates with advance academic qualification that is higher than WASCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO.

Instead of starting from 100 level like WASCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO holders, Direct Entry candidates usually starts from 200 level or 300 level depending on their academic qualifications.

UNILAG DLI Direct Entry Requirements

The following candidates are eligible to apply for UNILAG DLI Direct Entry admission:

  1. 1 Graduates of the University of Lagos or any other University recognised by Senate with degrees in relevant disciplines.
  2. 2 Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) or National Diploma (ND) or National Certificate in Education (NCE) in the relevant disciplines.
  3. 3 Holders of recognized relevant full professional qualifications particularly ACA, ANAN, ACCA, ACMA, ACIA, ACIS, ACIB and CII may be considered for admission at enhanced level provided           they have five credits at WASCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (‘O’ Level) or its equivalent, which must            include English Language, Mathematics, Economics plus any other two (2) relevant subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.

NOTE:   (a) Point of entry for candidates in categories 2.1 to 2.3 will depend on details of their transcripts and such candidates must also satisfy the WASCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (‘O’ Level) or its equivalent as stated in 2.4 above.

             (b) All academic transcripts for the candidates in categories 2.1 and 2.2 must reach the Deputy   Registrar/Institute Secretary, Distance Learning Institute, in sealed envelopes forwarded directly from the awarding Institution on or before the start of the session in which admission is being sought.

B.Sc. Accounting Requirements

100 Level Entry Requirement

WASCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (O’ Level) or its equivalent with credits in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Economics plus any other two (2) subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.

200 Level Direct Entry Requirement

(a) Graduates of the University of Lagos or any other University recognized by the Senate with a minimum of Pass in relevant disciplines such as Actuarial Science, Banking and Finance, Business Administration/Management, Economics, Financial Studies, Insurance Marketing and Taxation excluding holders of degrees in Accounting subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.
 
(b) ICAN Accounting Technician Scheme (ATS III) subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.
 
(c) National Diploma (ND) with a minimum of Lower credit in Accounting, Actuarial Science, Banking and Finance, Business Administration/Management, Economics, Insurance, Taxation, Financial Studies and Marketing subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.
 
(d) National Certificate in Education (NCE) in Accounting Education and Financial Education subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.
 
(e) GCE ‘A’ Level with credit grades in Economics and the other two (2) relevant subjects such as Accounting, Business Management, Geography and Government subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.
 
(f) The JUPEB certificate with appropriate credit points in Economics and the other two (2) relevant subjects such as Accounting, Business Management, Geography and Government subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

300 Level Direct Entry Requirements

(a) Graduates of the University of Lagos or any other University recognized by the Senate with good honours degrees in relevant disciplines such as Actuarial Science, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Financial Studies, Insurance and Taxation excluding holders of degrees in Accounting subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.
 
(b) The Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower credit in Accounting, Actuarial Science, Banking and Finance, Business Administration/Management, Economics,  Financial Studies  Insurance and Taxation subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.
 
(c) Full Professional qualifications in ACA, ANAN, ACCA, ACMA, ACIA, ACIB subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

B.Sc. Business Administration Requirements

100 Level Entry Requirement

WASCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (O’ Level) or its equivalent with credits in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Economics plus any other two (2)subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.

200 Level Direct Entry Requirements

(a) Graduates of University of Lagos or any other University recognized by the Senate with a minimum of Pass in relevant disciplines such as Accounting, Banking and Finance, Cooperative Economic Management, Economics, Estate Management,   Employment Relations and Human Resource Management, Financial Studies, Insurance, Marketing, Marine Transportation and Business Studies, Mass Communication, Office Technology and Management, Purchasing and Supply, Taxation, Transportation Planning Management and Labour Studies    excluding holders of degrees in Business Administration subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(b) National Diploma (ND) with a minimum of Lower credit in relevant disciplines such as Accounting, Banking and Finance, Cooperative Economic Management, Economics, Estate Management,   Employment Relations and Human Resource Management, Financial Studies, Insurance, Marketing, Marine Transportation and Business Studies, Mass Communication, Office Technology and Management, Purchasing and Supply, Taxation, Transportation Planning Management and Labour Studies subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(c) National Certificate in Education (NCE) in Accounting Education, Computer Science/Secretarial Studies, Computer Science /Business Studies, Economics/Social Studies, Economics/Political Science/Government and Financial Studies subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(d) GCE ‘A’ Level with credit grades in Economics and two (2) relevant subjects such as Business Management, Geography and Government subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(e) The JUPEB certificate with appropriate credit points in Economics and the other two (2) relevant subjects such as Business Management, Geography and Government subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements

300 Level Direct Entry Requirements

B.Sc. Economics Requirements

100 Level Entry Requirement

(a) Graduates of University of Lagos or any other University recognized by the Senate with a minimum of Pass in relevant disciplines such as Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Administration and Management, Cooperative Economics and Management, Home and Rural Economics, Insurance, Marketing, Purchasing and Supply, Statistics and Taxation subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(b) National Diploma (ND) with a minimum of Lower Credit in

Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Administration and Management, Cooperative Economics and Management, Home and Rural Economics, Insurance, Marketing, Purchasing and Supply, Statistics and Taxation subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(c) GCE ‘A’ Level with credit grades in Economics and two (2) relevant subjects such as Business Management, Mathematics and Government/History subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(d) JUPEB certificate with appropriate credit points in Economics and other two (2) relevant subjects such as Government/ History and Mathematics subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

300 Level Direct Entry Requirements

(a) Graduates of University of Lagos or any other University recognized by the Senate with good honours degrees in relevant disciplines such as Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Administration and Management, Cooperative Economics and Management, Home and Rural Economics, Insurance, Marketing, Purchasing and Supply, Statistics and Taxation excluding holders of degrees in Economics subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements. 

(b) Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower credit in Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Administration and Management, Cooperative Economics and Management, Home and Rural Economics, Insurance, Marketing, Purchasing and Supply, Statistics and Taxation subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.  

(c) Full Professional qualifications in Associate of Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB) subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

B.A.  (Ed.) English Requirements

100 Level Entry Requirement

WASCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (O’ Level) or its equivalent with credits five (5) subjects including English Language,  Mathematics, Literature-in-English and any two (2) of History/Government, any Nigerian Language, Economics/Commerce, Geography, French/Arabic, CRS/IRS, Civic Education at not more than two (2) sittings.

200 Level Direct Entry Requirements

(a) Graduates of University of Lagos or any other University recognized by the Senate with a minimum of Pass in relevant disciplines such as Communication and Language Art, Library and Information Science, Mass Communication, Modern European Languages (French, German, Russian), Phonetics excluding holders of degrees in English subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(b) The National Certificate of Education (NCE) with at least merit grades in English Languge, Literature-in-English, Mathematics and any other two (2), subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(c) The National Diploma (ND) with a minimum of Lower Credit in relevant fields such as  Communication and Language Art, Library and Information Science, Mass Communication, Modern European Languages (French, German, Russian), Phonetics subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(d) GCE ‘A’ Level with at least Credit grades in relevant subjects including English Language and English Literature subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(e) The Joint University Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) certificate with at least Credit grades in three (3) subjects in Literature-in-English and any two (2) of French, Igbo/Yoruba, History, CRS/IRS, Government, Economics and Arabic subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

300 Level Direct Entry Requirements

(a) Graduates of University of Lagos or any other University recognized by the Senate with good honours degrees in relevant disciplines such as  Communication and Language Art, Library and Information Science, Mass Communication, Modern European Languages (French, German, Russian), Phonetics excluding holders of degrees in English subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(b) Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower credit in a relevant subject area such as  Communication and Language Art, Library and Information Science, Mass Communication, Modern European Languages (French, German, Russian), Phonetics subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

B.Sc. Public Administration Requirements

100 Level Entry Requirement

WASCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (O’ Level) or its equivalent with credits in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Government plus any other two (2)subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.

200 Level Direct Entry Requirements

(a) Graduates of University of Lagos or any other University recognized by the Senate with a minimum of Pass in relevant disciplines such as Business Administration, Economics, Industrial and Labour Relations/Labour Studies, Political Science, Psychology, Social work, Sociology, and any course in the Arts, Sciences, Engineering excluding holders of degrees in Public Administration subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(b) National Diploma (ND) with a minimum of Lower Credit in relevant disciplines such as Business Administration, Economics, Industrial and Labour Relations/Labour Studies,  Local Government Studies, Office Technology and Management, Political Science, Psychology, Public Administration, Social Work/Social Development and Secretarial Studies subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(c) G. C. E. ‘A’ Level with credit grades in Government/History and other two (2) relevant subjects such as Economics, Christian Religious Studies/Islamic Religious Knowledge (CRS/IRK)  subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(d) JUPEB certificate with appropriate credit points in Government/ History and other two (2) relevant subjects such as Economics, Christian Religious Studies Islamic Religious Knowledge (CRS/IRK) subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

300 Level Direct Entry Requirements

(a) Graduates of University of Lagos or any other University recognized by the Senate with good honours degrees in relevant disciplines such as Business Administration, Economics, Mass Communication, Sociology, Political Science, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology and any course in the Arts, Sciences, Engineering excluding holders of degrees in Public Administration subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(b) The Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower credit in Business Administration, Economics, Industrial and Labour Relations/Labour Studies,  Local Government Studies, Mass Communication, Office Technology and Management, Political Science, Public Administration, Psychology, Social Work/Social Development, Sociology and Secretarial Studies subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(c) Full Professional qualifications, Associate of Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria (AIPA) subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

B.Sc. (Ed.) Biology Requirements

100 Level Entry Requirement

WASCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (O’ Level) or its equivalent with credits in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics,  Biology, Chemistry and either of Physics or Agricultural Science, Integrated Science and Fisheries/Animal Husbandry at not more than two (2) sittings.

200 Level Direct Entry Requirements

(a) Graduates of the University of Lagos or any other University recognized by the Senate with a minimum of Pass in relevant disciplines excluding holders of degrees in Biology subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(b) The National Certificate of Education (NCE) with at least merit grades in Biology and other science subjects, subjet to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(c) The National Diploma (ND) with a minimum of Lower Credit in relevant fields subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(d) GCE ‘A’ Level with at least Credit grades in two (2) relevant subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science etc.  subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(e) The Joint University Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) certificate with at least credit grades in Biology, Chemistry and Physics subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

300 Level Direct Entry Requirements

(a) Graduates of the University of Lagos or any other University recognized by the Senate with good honours degrees in relevant disciplines excluding holders of degrees in Biology subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(b) Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower credit in relevant fields subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

B.Sc. (Ed.) Business (Office Technology and Management Option) & (Accounting Option) Requirements

100 Level Entry Requirement

WASCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (O’ Level) or its equivalent with credits in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two (2) subjects from Arts or Social Sciences, Data Processing/Office Practice, Financial Accounting at not more than two (2) sittings.

200 Level Direct Entry Requirements

(a) Graduates of the University of Lagos or any other University recognized by the Senate with a minimum of Pass in relevant disciplines excluding holders of degrees in Education Business subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(b) The National Certificate of Education (NCE) with at least merit level pass in Business Education (Double Major), Merit passes in two relevant subjects such as Financial Accounting, Office Management, subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(c) The National Diploma (ND) with a minimum of Lower Credit in relevant fields subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(d) GCE ‘A’ Level with at least Credit grades in two (2) relevant subjects subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(e) The Joint University Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) certificate with at least Credit grades in three (3) subjects including Economics and any two (2) of Accounting, Geography, Government, Business Management, subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

B.Sc. (Ed.) Chemistry Requirements

100 Level Entry Requirement

WASCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (O’ Level) or its equivalent with credits in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics,   Chemistry and any two of Physics, Biology or Agricultural Science, Integrated Science and Fisheries/Animal Husbandry at not more than two (2) sittings.

200 Level Direct Entry Requirements

(a)  Graduates of the University of Lagos or any other University recognized by the Senate with a minimum of Pass in relevant disciplines excluding holders of degrees in Chemistry subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(b) The National Certificate of Education (NCE) with at least Merit grades in Chemistry and any other science subject,  subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(c) The National Diploma (ND) with a minimum of Lower Credit in relevant fields subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(d) GCE ‘A’ Level with at least Credit grades in two (2) relevant subjects Chemistry, Biology etc. subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(e) The Joint University Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) certificate with at least Credit grades in three (3) subjects including Chemistry, Physics and Biology, subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

300 Level Direct Entry Requirements

(a) Graduates of the University of Lagos or any other University recognized by the Senate with good honours degrees in relevant disciplines excluding holders of degrees in Chemistry subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(b) Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower credit in relevant fields subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

B.Sc. (Ed.) Early Childhood and Care

100 Level Entry Requirement

WASCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (O’ Level) or its equivalent with credits in five (5) subjects including English Language,  Mathematics and any three (3) subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.

200 Level Direct Entry Requirements

(a) Graduates of the University of Lagos or any other University recognized by the Senate with a minimum of Pass in relevant disciplines excluding holders of degrees in Early Childhood and Care subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(b) The National Certificate of Education (NCE) with at least merit grades in Primary Education Studies and any teaching subject, subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

(c) The National Diploma (ND) with a minimum of Lower Credit in relevant fields subject to satisfaction of ‘O’ Level requirements.

Candidates seeking for admission into the Distance Learning Institute (DLI) must first of all obtain the UNILAG DLI Form.

Yes! UNILAG DLI Form is still on Sale. The sales of the form can close anytime. Hence you are advised to obtain the form as fast as possible so that you don’t this year admission.

How Much is UNILAG DLI Form?

As usual, UNILAG DLI Form has always been sold for N18,500 (including bank charge).

Note that a JAMB registration number is needed to obtain UNILAG DLI Form, and that will cost you about N3,500.

That brings the total amount to N22,000. When you add other miscelleneaous expenses involved in processing the form, you will be needing about N25,000 to complete the whole process of obtaining, filling and submission of the form.

The UNILAG Postgraduate forms fee can be paid to any of the following banks within UNILAG: Access Bank Plc, Ecobank Plc, First Bank Plc, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, UBA Plc, Union Bank Plc, Wema Bank Plc and Zenith Bank Plc. Before going to the bank, you must first of all generate and print out your Reference Number.

UNILAG DLI Result is usually released after exams. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to check your result.

UNILAG DLI Result Checker

First of all, note that you don’t need any pin nor card to check UNILAG Postgraduate result. In other words, it doesn’t cost you anything to check your result.

All you need to check your result are your username and password. Recall that your username and password were generated for you when you were obtaining the postgraduate form.

However, if for any reason you can’t have access to your username and/or password, then you will need to retrieve your username and/or password, as the case may be.

Please note that password/username retrieval can only be done on the school’s portal. Just go to the login page of the school and click on ‘lost password’ and follow the instructions to retrieve or create a new password or username.

UNILAG DLI Residential programme is an annual exercise in which DLI students move into Hostels for a period of three weeks to enable them attend lecture revisions and write their exams.

Out of the three weeks period, one week is for lecture revision while two weeks is for the exams.

The residential programme usually take place between the months of November and December. Note that the residential programme is usually associated with daily rigorous academic activities. Hence, you are advice to make adequate preparation towards the exercise.
